| While New Providence (Nassau/Paradise Island) and Grand Bahama boast a reputation as exciting tropical island playgrounds, the smaller Out Islands exude charm and abundant tranquility. The Exumas are an archipelago of 365 cays and islands, beginning just 35 miles southeast of Nassau and stretching over 100 miles. Two main islands, Great Exuma and Little Exuma (connected by a short bridge), form the southern tip of this island chain where hidden coves, bays, and harbors are magnets for yachts and sport fishing. The bright white sand of the deserted beaches is a striking contrast to the aquamarine and jade hues of the water. The islands are only 7½ miles across at the widest point, and the splendor of the pristine beaches, the crystal-blue waters and the lush tropical greenery attract people from around the globe. George Town is the capital and major settlement on Great Exuma, and north of George Town is the 346 acre Four Seasons Emerald Bay Resort with its 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course and exciting casino.
